Still Life images have always intrigued
artists, and I am no exception. I try to see the essence of life in still
objects, and to reflect some of my feelings for them.
Some of the
photographs in this gallery were created with traditional film and some with digital
cameras. Digital software manipulation was sometimes used to create
a mood of impressionism with color and apparent texture
I am an Impressionist at heart
and so my photographs have some of the characteristics of the Impressionist
painters of the last century. However the techniques I use are not borrowed
from painterly software, but are created with camera actions and software
enhancements of color and contrast, etc.
I like to keep the response to the subject
as immediate as possible so that the final image is fresh and uncluttered.
However, I believe that anything is appropriate if the final image works. The subject
matter is somewhat eclectic as is the design and composition of the images,
but I feel they
all fit into a broad interpretation of an Impressionist style.
