Photographing France and French Provence is always a pleasure because of the
special lighting that exists in Provence and the casual character of the people and villages of France. By using an Impressionist style I have tried to reflect the gentle feeling of old world
France, and capture the wonderful color of French Provence. Impressionism has allowed me to express my true feelings about old Provence, while at the same time, allowing me to reveal some of its modern world attributes. Before I started using Impressionist techniques, I was always disappointed by the lack of vitality and emotional color of my own and others' photographs of the Holy Land. There seemed to be something missing. Perhaps it was the inability to translate what is in the mind and heart with a completely realistic image. However, when I finally began using digital processes to form and modify the images captured with a camera, I began seeing a wonderful change in the photographs I produced. I was thrilled to see previously rejected photos come to life and recall what I had seen in my heart in the first place. |
