Photographing the Holy Land with
Impressionist styling has allowed me to express my true feelings about the
land of the Prophets and the Savior. Before I started using Impressionist techniques, I was always disappointed by the lack of vitality and emotional color of my own and others' photographs of the Holy Land. There seemed to be something missing. Perhaps it was the inability to translate what is in the mind and heart with a completely realistic image. However, when I finally began using digital processes to form and modify the images captured with a camera, I began seeing a wonderful change in the photographs I produced. I was thrilled to see previously rejected photos come to life and recall what I had seen in my heart in the first place. Lately I have been introducing some new concepts to the visual tonal purity of the image that gives even more emphasis to the feelings and expressive directness of the subject. I find that working with digital equipment gives me the freedom and variety of image creativity that makes all of these moods possible.
