EUROPE IMPRESSIONISM |

Photographing Europe is always a pleasure because of the
old world culture that remains in its buildings and streets. But it is
changing, and a cosmopolitan intrusion is everywhere. The people and
much of the customs that made Europe a unique experience are becoming a
conglomerate mix. By using an
Impressionist style I have tried to hold back the visual march of time and
hold on to the wonderful ambience that captured my heart many years ago.
Impressionism has allowed me to express my true feelings about the
old world of Europe, while at the same time, showing some of the contrast
and incursion of the modern world. Before I started using Impressionist techniques, I was always disappointed by the lack of vitality and emotional color of my own and others' photographs of the Holy Land. There seemed to be something missing. Perhaps it was the inability to translate what is in the mind and heart with a completely realistic image. However, when I finally began using digital processes to form and modify the images captured with a camera, I began seeing a wonderful change in the photographs I produced. I was thrilled to see previously rejected photos come to life and recall what I had seen in my heart in the first place. |
