Don O. Thorpe is a Utah born artist who specializes in Impressionist photography. He has been experimenting with fine-art photography for several decades and has won many awards in competition. He has had a dozen one-man photo exhibits, and exhibited in the International Photography and Travel Fair in the New York Coliseum, The Finch Lane Art Gallery, Eccles Gallery, Harris Fine Arts Gallery, The Utah Council of Arts Gallery and others.

Education: Art program at Sacramento Junior College in Sacramento, California
Bachelor’s degree in Art and Psychology at Brigham Young University, Provo, Utah
Master of Fines Arts program at Utah State University, Logan, Utah

First Publication: Camera 35 Magazine, 1969.

Photographic Interests:  Images that represent events and places -- especially those that have historical impact. The Holy Land and locations in Europe and the Eastern U.S. are favorite subjects. Rural locations are appealing because they reflect my roots in Southern Utah. But I also am attracted to symbolic images that reflect humanity and the ebb and flow of life.

I prefer simple images with geometric shapes and uncomplicated colors. I usually blend colors and textures of subjects so that they have a direct and simple relationship to each other.
